I have to say this was one of the GREATEST Pretenders shows I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them. The venue
was great too. The Wiltern is a restored art deco theater, a really great place to see the show. And there's some
good news, they were filming a DVD there. While we were all waiting on line some guys came around with a camera
asking if anybody wanted to give them a memorable Pretenders moment. You know what, they had trouble finding anyone.
I managed to get their attention and I told them my favorite moment was when they played Kid on the Isle of View
tour at this very theater. Who knows, maybe I'll get my 15 minutes of fame?
When they finally let us in we took our seats upstairs. The floor was open but I recently had surgery so I couldn't
stand the whole time so I got stuck in the seats upstairs with a bunch of lame idiots who didn't seem that interested
in the show. Some of them left halfway through. I don't know what's wrong with some people.
After the All Mighty Senators there was a bit of a delay, I guess they were getting the cameras ready for the taping.
It was definitely worth the wait. They just get better and better each time I see them. Chrissie mentioned that
she had to get a shot of cortizone so she'd be able to appear tonight. Thank God for medical science!
The Homecoming (At least I think that was the title) was great. Just when I thought I had just about every song
they ever did she pulls out another great one. I have got to find a copy of the G.I. Jane soundtrack. I've got
a CD with Goodbye but I need a copy of The Homecoming. Hopefully it will be on the DVD.
Right before You Know Who Your Friends are she pointed out a bunch of movie stars in the audience. I didn't care,
the stars I came to see were right there on stage. Later she said a friend told her there weren't enough straight
men in LA. She said they were wrong, they're not gay, they're LA.
She also mentioned she sings about the 1994 Northridge earthquake in Nothing Breaks like a Heart. Apparently she
was here in LA at the time. I'll never think of that song the same way again, my house almost fell down. In fact
all the glass shattered but at least my car didn't fall apart.
During Don't Get Me Wrong a girl in the audience threw her bra on the stage. Chrissie picked it up and threw it
back and said " I must be doing something wrong." They she made the same comment she made at another
show about the men under 40 coming backstage after the show (sigh), oh how I wish I was young again. She really
looks great, I swear she looks better every time I see her.
Anyway if you've still got a chance to see the Pretenders on this tour get out there. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!
